  This trail was sugggested by the visitor centre staff for short hikes. They also lend out kits (nets, pan and a booklet) so visitors can capture, examine and release the insect (and other) life on the marsh. The trail itself is mostly made up of floating boardwalks on the marsh. There are some benches at certain points so you can take a break and take in the scenery. Our kids really enjoyed the activity hoping to catch a different creature each time.
  
  At the end of the trail, there is a platform that overlooks the marsh. after this you have a choice to loop back to the beginning or continue on to the the South Lake trail junction. I would recommend doing this so that you would have walked through marshlands, forest, and the lakeshore, then back to town. It's not that difficult either with just a few inclines (we had a 5 year old with us).
